He just finished a sensational season – another one – ended with 50 goals and a lot of superb performances and has now decided to start a new adventure in the fashion universe, where he has always been considered a stranger because of some questionable outfits he has worn in the past. In fact, Leo Messi will collaborate with Ginny Hilfiger, Tommy’s sister, chief creative & brand officer of the American brand portfolio MGO, which next July will open an e-commerce platform called ‘The Messi store’.
The first items of the Argentine champion’s collection will be presented only in August with a very limited release with a lifestyle/sportswear mark, mainly dedicated to the male universe. As we read on WWD, the clothes will be released progressively in small quantities so that each drop is considered unmissable. As stated by Hilfiger, Messi will also autograph some pieces in order to make everything more authentic and unique.
The idea also developed thanks to the insights of Argentine Maximiliano Ojeda, MGO’s chief executive officer, confident that the popularity of the Barça’s star will only make this project successful. Two capsules are already scheduled in September: the first with Richard James, the Savile Row tailor, the second with a well-known English shoe company, Tricker’s. In October, another store will be launched on TMall.
